To GUIDE THOSE LEFT BEHIND, you need to know what is involved in settling an Estate in Oklahoma. This book explains the things that need to be done:

  1. How to tend to the funeral and burial
  2. What agencies need to be notified of the death
  3. How to locate the decedents property
  4. What bills need (and do not need) to be paid
  5. How to determine who is entitled to inherit the decedents property
  6. How to transfer the decedents property to the proper beneficiary

We devoted a chapter to each of these 6 steps; and for those who are in the process of settling an Estate, we placed a CHECK LIST at the end of Chapter 6 summarizing the many things that need to be done. Once you read Chapters 1 through 6 you will be able to identify those problems that can happen when someone dies. Using those Chapters as a base, you can set up your own Estate Plan so that your family is not burdened by similar problems. The rest of the book (Chapters 7, 8 and 9) suggests different methods you can use to accomplish this goal. This book is designed for the average reader. Legal terminology has been kept to a minimum. There is a glossary at the end of the book in the event you come across a legal term that is not familiar to you.
