Free Report Reveals the Dangers of Do-It-Yourself Wills

January 2, 2013 by Larry Parman, Attorney at Law

One of the roles our firm assumes as a member of the community is that of an educational organization. To this end we have taken the time to prepare a series of reports that cover a number of different aspects of estate planning.

We are offering these reports one by one to people here in the greater Oklahoma City area who want to learn more about estate planning and why it is so important. At the current time our report on wills is available to you free of charge, and you can obtain access by clicking this link and completing the form that you will see to the right: Oklahoma City Report on Last Wills

A last will can seem like a simple document on the surface. You may even be tempted to buy into the sales pitches that you may run across on the Internet or television suggesting that anyone can execute a last will by using a download or a worksheet that you buy from a Do-It-Yourself (DIY) legal document site.

Our report explains why this is not a good idea. The fact is that your estate must pass through the probate process when you use a will to direct asset transfers, and the probate courts here in Oklahoma have very specific expectations.

If you employ guesswork to put together a generic last will document you could make errors that create difficulties for your loved ones after your passing.

To gain an in-depth understanding of why DIY wills are to be avoided, download your free report today and increase your knowledge so that you can make the right estate planning decisions.

After helping his own family deal with a lengthy probate and the IRS following his father’s untimely death in a farm accident, Larry Parman made a decision to help families create effective estate plans designed to reduce taxes, minimize legal interference with the transfer of assets to one’s heirs, and protect his clients’ assets from predators and creditors.
